What Are The Best Elliptical Trainers?
Deciding What Is The Best Elliptical Trainer
What is the best elliptical machine? Simply stated, the best is one that you use regularly. Aside from that, your main concern is how well any particular trainer will stand up to continued use.
In the navigation bar to the right you see a link to price comparison. When you go to that page you will see about 27 elliptical trainers that have the best ratings that we have found. If you click on each of those links you will see what other people consider the best. The reviews are by people who have bought and actually used the particular trainers that they are rating.
The information they provide will give you a good background to decide what is best for you.
Beyond that, let me make a couple comments about elliptical machines and what I have found as best for me.
Using an elliptical machine can be time consuming and boring. So when we use an elliptical machine we generally put it in front of the television and watch something interesting to keep our mind occupied.
So what interests us is an elliptical machine that is quiet.
We also like a quiet machine so that it does not disturb other members of the family.
As odd as it seems, that is the most important feature to us other than durability.
Many of the machines and electronics attached to them that show everything from speed the calories per hour and heart rates. We do not use them.
Most people have a difficult enough time in getting their body in shape enough to be able to last 20 to 30 minutes on an elliptical machine. The most important metric for them is how long they were able to last. All those other figures are just exercises in futility.
If you are just starting with an elliptical machine you might consider doing like we did. I bought a low-cost machine with minimal electronics. When I first started I had difficulty in lasting three minutes on the machine. It took me about a month to work up to where I could go an hour. During that month I did not worry about heart rate or anything else other than sheer survival for that time period.
Once I got my body into condition where I could last for an hour then I became concerned about other things such as boredom. At that point I recognize the importance of having a quiet machine so I could watch television or a movie on the latest CD.
My point is very simple. You do not have to spend a lot of money to get a good machine. And by a good machine I mean one that is durable and one that you can expect to use 15 to 20 minutes per day to burn calories, and help keep your body in shape.
Now if you are setting up a gym or have some social requirement to have something that looks nice to make people go oooo! and aaah!, then by all means you will be required to buy something that looks nice. It is likely not to do anything more than a very basic and simple machine will do.
The one that I bought seven years ago cost me $150. I still use it. I've had to repair it several times because it has logged many hundreds of miles and burned off many thousands of calories.
I may replace it just to replace it. But as it stands it has been the best elliptical trainer for me for seven years. And when I replace it the new one will do just what this one does. It will burn calories and keep my body in tone.
